Yulsic Fic Chapter One up! Just cos I told Fangyi to read:D

Yuri knew that she was going to die.

It was inevitable; Yuri had known it for the past few months or so, even going so far as to acknowledge it readily and treat Death as another friend. After all, with the medical report that sealed her fate blatantly laughing at her misfortune right in front of her, even if she had tried to deny it and not bow to the Master of Death, as the months passed, she would, eventually, succumb to the knowledge that her time was almost up.

Ever since Yuri had sprained her back a little while ago, all sorts of funny symptoms had sprung up-feeding difficulties, weak legs and rapid weight loss. Anxious and worried, her parents had frantically pressed her to have a medical checkup done. At first, Yuri had reckoned that it was nothing serious, maybe just a minor ailment that refused to make itself scarce, but the trip to the doctor had proved otherwise. She was diagnosed with fatal muscular atrophy, and her muscles would get weaker and weaker while her life would be like that of a burning candle-soon to be extinguished.

Thankfully, Yuri had always had the fortunate habit of appreciating things and not leaving them to the last minute, so pretty much all of her wishes had already been fulfilled. Besides, she had always treasured her days, so spending them crying in bed was not exactly on top of her to-do list. It was useless to wallow in misery when she could do so much more. So now, practically all her days were spent with her family and two close friends-Taeyeon and Tiffany, counting down the days to the final goodbye.

Yuri perched herself comfortably on her bedside table, swinging her long legs in glee as she grabbed a handful of her drawings and scrutinized them closely, trying to look for any means of improving them, although she was already and excellent artist. Running her finger along the paper, she hummed merrily as her eyes roamed around gleefully around, taking in all her recent works.

She giggled playfully, trying to stifle her chuckles as her eyes came across a drawing of Tiffany sleeping with her mouth open and drool coming out.

“What are you laughing at?” Tiffany demanded as she pushed the door of Yuri’s room open, holding a tray laden with plates of food which she balanced it precariously on the edge of Yuri’s study table. Taeyeon followed in behind her, taking long strides to cross the room and close the blinds.

“Nothing, I…” Yuri’s once merry voice trailed off into a whisper as her eyes caught sight of a name that had been scribbled hastily at the bottom right hand of the paper. She bit on her lower lip, clenching her fists tightly. Her laughing features were rearranged into an upset expression, while her lips tugged downwards in a frown.

“Hey, are you alright?” Tiffany, sensing the sudden change in Yuri’s mood, sat down next to her friend, placing her hand on Yuri’s shoulder in concern.

“Jessica…” Yuri lisped, her fingers tracing hearts around that name.

Taeyeon sighed, her forehead creased in worry. Yuri’s affection for this girl was taking a toll on Yuri. Yuri had been in love with this Jessica girl for an extremely long time, yet the irony of the entire situation was that Jessica had only uttered one word to Yuri: “Thanks.” That was when Jessica had been caught sleeping in class and Yuri distracted their Mathematics teacher from chiding the girl off. She couldn’t understand why Yuri seemed so attached to her. All she knew was that Yuri yearned to love the girl properly before she left the earth.

“Unnie…Please, I want to go back to school,” Yuri pleaded earnestly, the desperation in her voice evident. Turning to Tiffany, she tugged on her arm timidly.

“W-what?” Taeyeon spluttered out in disbelief, staring at Yuri with widened eyes. “The doctor had instructed you to pull out of school to recuperate, you can’t return now! Yuri, please be rational.”

Slumping back against the wall, Yuri groaned, “I’m going to die anyway, it won’t make a difference. However, Jessica is the world to me. Please, this is my only wish, just to see her before I die.”

Taeyeon had opened her mouth, obviously to give a retort of some sort, but Tiffany saw this and reached out to grab her hand.
Squeezing it, she shook her head at her lover and motioned for Taeyeon to let her handle Yuri.

“Yuri-ah, honestly speaking, even if you are able to make Jessica fall in love with you, you are going to leave her side eventually. What will happen to her then?” Tiffany questioned gently yet cautiously as she enveloped Yuri into a tight hug.

Yuri looked Tiffany in the eye, before admitting defeat, “I don’t know…”

Taeyeon cut in crisply, “Good! Just stay at home and recuperate!”

“Wait, Taenggoo! I think we should ask Mr and Mrs Kwon to let Yuri go back to school,” Tiffany objected firmly. Yuri’s sincerity and helplessness had stirred up some emotions in her heart, and she understood what the girl was going through.

“Fany! Are you mad? Yuri can’t go back in this state!”

“Taeyeon, that’s enough. Like what Yuri said, she’s going to die anyway, so what rights have we to deny her the right of loving Jessica?”
Taeyeon threw a glance at Tiffany , clearly disgruntled with her. However she pondered over Tiffany’s last words and looked over at her beloved dongsaeng Yuri, who was wearing a look of long suffering and pining.

“Fine.” Taeyeon gave a tight lipped reply and nodded her head .

Yuri’s face brightened up almost instantly in hope. Breathlessly, she asked, “Really, unnie? You’ll ask mum and dad for me?”

Taeyeon threw up her hands in the air. “I don’t know why I’m doing this, but fine. Count yourself lucky that Tiffany is too precious to be lose while you are too pitiful to be rejected.”

“Thank you unnie!” Yuri squealed in delight as she flung her arms around Tiffany and Taeyeon.

Yuri’s heart soared and she was over the moon; at long last, she would be able to love Jessica just like she had always wanted to.

*Author’s note: I’m so sorry there isn’t any Yulsic in this chapter. Initially, this part was supposed to be shorter, but it kind of snowballed into something larger. Note: They are not siblings it is just tat Yuri wanted Taeyeon and Tiffany to remember that she is younger(even though it is only for a few months) and wanted them to give in to her request
